$3.4 Billion Redesign Project! - WOW!

This is fantastic! Nice to know that by 2018, there will be 700 brand new BART trains! These designs are great! Any of them beat what we have available now.

And furthermore, BART is evaluating pay fares by cellphones!

Great news on a Friday morning! Welcome to the new century, BART.

Seats are going to be needed/required still since this isn't a "subway" as so much its a regional design. Some people, for various reasons (be it good or bad) just aren't capable physically to stand/lean for a trip from Concord to Powell.

Just as long as they don't make the same mistake twice regarding carpet.

Having been a BART rider for 10+ years now, I will believe it when I see it.

I checked out the new car designs, seems they are even less bicycle friendly than before. As a bicycle-carrying BART rider I can attest that even the current cars are pain in the rear when it comes to dealing with a bicycle.

less bicycle friendly? the cars have fewer seats and more open room. it doesn't get too much more friendly than that. the cars actually look like those of europe and asia.
