Our Holiday/New Year Wish List to BART

Whatever holiday you celebrate this time of the year, it seems like a good time for us to think about what we need and want on BART as we head into 2008.

All year long, we've talked about many many things that we want to see changed or improved or enforced on BART. If we could send a holiday wish list, which I fully intend to send this one, what will we ask for?

Think about it for a moment and add your wishes on! I'll start.

BART, are you ready to make some improvements in 2008?

trains that don't smell like farts. Seriously!

Oh! And, BART tickets that don't get wiped if you even THINK about a magnet. If have to stand in line at that window (open for an hour a week!) at Berkeley BART once more to exchange my erased tickets....

I really appreciate my EZRider card, but for the love of God PLEASE get on the ball and roll out Translink already.

I'm tired of juggling a seperate MUNI pass.

All 10-car trains during the rush. It's frustrating getting on at Fruitvale and having to stand, when the train is less then full length.

Try to make the trains run more efficiently on the Peninsula to Milbrae. They always seem to wait a while at the yard near Colma and again at the Airport (the new schedule should work out some of the trouble with the Airport, hopefully the new schedules will work out the Colma problems as well.

As for EZ Rider, I have it next to a Caltrain/Muni pass so it doesn't show and still works fine to just slide the packet over the scanner.

sorry, but rain and delays go hand in hand, there is virtually no way to run an "on time" schedule during a rainy day since many trains will be running at a reduced speed in order to prevent damaging rail and wheel.

kick out those who eat and drink on the train

Working Escalators please.

That those wearing cheap, leaky headphones will realize that the rest of the car might not want to listen to their sucky music & will actually turn down the volume.

Make clear and audible announcements so we can actually hear about delays.

More productive effort in maintaining, or even reducing, fares, and not by gouging riders in other ways, e.g.,parking fees. Despite any arguments about how inexpensive BART is compared to driving, it is still quite costly especially on the longer runs. BART is supposed to be PUBLIC transportation which usually means that it should be affordable for most people, but it is becoming less and less so.

bart has already decided for us as usual. first of all another fare increase. and secondly lots and lots of trains to the airport which have nothing to do with regular commuters, riders, ticket buyers and folks bart continues to spit on all year long.
